All mariners know the hazards of working at sea. Every year more than 1000 marine incidents are reported to the Canadian Marine Administration of Transport Canada.Although work on board ship can be dangerous, many incidents could be avoided if proper safety procedures, as laid down in Canada’s “Safe Working Practices Regulations”, were followed. This booklet has been prepared by the Canadian Coast Guard to explain those regulations. References to specific sections of the official regulations are included so you can find more detailed information if you need it.
